What is MACD?

The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator tracks the relationship between two exponential moving averages (EMAs). It consists of:

How This Signal Works

Signal Logic

  • BUY: MACD Line crosses above Signal Line (bullish crossover)
  • SELL: MACD Line crosses below Signal Line (bearish crossover)
  • BUY (Trend): MACD Line is above Signal Line with no recent crossover
  • SELL (Trend): MACD Line is below Signal Line with no recent crossover
  • Neutral: No strong momentum or crossover detected

Customizable Settings

You can edit the Fast EMA, Slow EMA, and Signal Line periods.
Default: Fast = 12, Slow = 26, Signal = 9 — the most widely used MACD settings.

Important Notes

  • MACD Line: Difference between the Fast EMA and Slow EMA
  • Signal Line: EMA of the MACD Line
  • Histogram: Represents the distance between MACD and Signal Lines (not displayed in widget)
